NSW Health WSLHD Safety & Quality Account 2020-21

Integrated and community health

COVID-19 testing In peak of the pandemic over 55 testing clinics were available right across WSLHD. Set up to be responsive to COVID risk in the community, based on locations of COVID-19 clusters or low testing rates, local sites were established that were accessible to the community and ensured culturally and linguistically tailored testing model. These testing clinics were promoted widely with communication campaigns on social media channels and radio, public service announcement in multiple languages for distribution around local language stations and ethnic media radio interviews, use of interpreters, and development of collateral communication packs for Councils, WentWest (Western Sydney Primary Health Network), Police Area Command and the multicultural health team. COVID-19 testing is an important part strategy to manage COVID-19 in the community. For children, testing can be very overwhelming. To support parents and children, a multilingual COVID-19 testing for Children’s Booklet was developed. Over the last year, 15,000 copies of this booklet were distributed throughout the community to make COVID-19 testing a little less scary.

Multicultural COVID Safety Champions Multicultural COVID-19 Safety Champions were a network of staff and community members who liaised with community leaders to share: • Public health alerts and COVID-19 information.
