Clinical Practice Unit
The Clinical Practice Unit (CPU) encompasses practice development and quality coordinators and safety culture coordinators in WSLHD. There are a number of clinical safety programs that align to the CPU:
Community of Practice- delivery of leadership education sessions and provision of support for COP leaders within the COP framework, development of emerging leaders
Practice development- delivery of practice development sessions to clinical staff to initiate and support quality activities in the wards
Essentials of Care- engagement and implementation of the EOC framework in frontline areas to improve quality and patient centered care
Safety Culture Coordinators have a district role in:
Increased supervision- implementation of the ‘safer ways’ program in WSLHD for complex patients
Seclusion and restraint- policy compliance, monitoring and reporting, education on seclusion and restraint to the clinical frontline
Code Black- monitor and report monthly Code Black data, participate in ED Code Black meetings
Falls- monitor and report on falls, district wide falls prevention initiatives including intentional rounding and safe and early mobilization from CEC
