Today The Westmead Health Precinct is Australia’s largest and leading health, education, research and training precinct. Spanning 75 hectares, the Westmead Health precinct, located within the broader Westmead Health and Innovation district, comprises over 400,000m2 of high-end health-related developments, including four major hospitals, five world-leading medical research institutes, two university campuses and the largest research-intensive pathology service in NSW. With a current workforce of 20,000, the Westmead Health precinct is destined to be one of the largest health precincts in the world, employing 50,000 health professionals and researchers by 2036, making it an economic powerhouse and a key provider of jobs for the Western Sydney region.
