ABOUT IPWEA

Members come from the wide range of professions involved in public works and services – engineers, technicians, public works directors, contractors, consultants, managers, and other technical staff and managers. Membership grades also reflect their achievements within the Institute. IPWEA is recognised nationally and internationally for its leadership and delivery of products and services aimed at advancing public works knowledge and delivering better outcomes for the community. www.ipwea.org Contact us admin@ipwea.org

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) is the professional organisation providing member services and advocacy for those involved in and delivering public works and engineering services to the community both in Australia and New Zealand. Almost all of Australia and New Zealand’s professional consultancy firms which specialise in public sector infrastructure including roads, water, power, rail, ports and airports – are members of IPWEA. Our private sector members bring thought leadership, innovation and a commercial focus to IPWEA’s industry leadership. The evolvement of IPWEA over the past two decades from its traditional local government engineering focus to public works has added a new dimension to public works professionalism.

Scenic Rim Council’s journey using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to Automatically Capture and Manage Road and Footpath Defects Scenic Rim Council evaluated Retina Visions’ and TechnologyOne’s solution to capture and update defects in the road corridor and for footpaths. By attaching a simple Google Pixel camera to waste trucks and e-bikes, Scenic Rim Council was able to start capturing defects in minutes. This presentation discusses the Scenic Rim experience and the business benefits discovered. Alvin Valle, Scenic Rim Council (QLD) Live Capture of Footpath Defects at the Conference, with Real Time Evaluation of the Results TechnologyOne and Retina Visions will have its “Defect Capturer e-bike” at the conference. This workshop builds on the Scenic Rim presentation showcasing the technology they evaluated to capture defects automatically. We will take the attendees out in the field with the TechnologyOne Field App to view the results as they are happening. This is a real-life, real- time assessment of this technology on the Adelaide streets around the Conference Centre. Smart Parking Forum

Monday 2 May

Street Lighting & Smart Controls (SLSC)

Tuesday 3 May

IPWEA is expected launch its new smart parking program in 2022. This new program will help engineering practitioners understand the case for widely deploying smart parking systems at carparks and on streets and introduce them to the growing array of technologies and suppliers that can help them successfully deliver these systems.

I PWEA will publicly launch its new asset tracking and monitoring program at the conference. This new program will help engineering practitioners understand the case for widely installing tracking and monitoring devices on assets such as their key pieces of infrastructure, fleet, other small plant, higher value stock items, and for monitoring access (e.g. on doors, gates, hatches and stormwater covers).

Wednesday 4 May

The established and successful IPWEA Street Lighting & Smart Controls Program is accelerating the efficient adoption of LED street lighting and smart controls technologies. It involves high- level government and industry engagement, the development of robust industry standard documentation and training. The SLSC full day Forum builds on four highly successful previous SLSC conferences. Entry to the Forum is available to all full-time registered delegates as well as all day delegates.
