HEALTH PROMOTION

Lifestyle coaching for pregnant women Get Healthy in Pregnancy is a free statewide telephone-based healthy lifestyle coaching service for pregnant women over 16 years.

2023 financial year outcomes : 1,928 pregnant women referred to Get Healthy in Pregnancy 902 enrolled into the program. Of the women who enrolled: 1.8% identified as Aboriginal 65.6% were from low socio-economic areas (3 lowest SEIFA quintiles) 33.9% primary language used at home was not English. “Having young children can make it extremely difficult to make time for yourself and this Service made me realise how important my own health is. I really believe I am a better parent now that I look after my own health and that’s because of my regular phone calls with my coach.” – Kayla, program participant.

Promoting healthy growth and development in children Children attending NSW Health facilities have their height/length and weight measured as part of their Routine Growth Assessment. The Health Promotion team managed a WSLHD working group 2023 outcomes : • Working group identified barriers and enablers of implementing Routine Growth Assessments in WSLHD. • Routine Growth Assessment

measurement targets shifted to focus on inpatients. WSLHD’s measurement rate was 65% (December 2023); NSW Health goal is 70%.
