HEALTH PROMOTION

Bite-sized health information for families Early Childhood Education Centres (ECEC) and Family Day Care Providers (FDCP) are encouraged to share health information on physical activity, healthy eating and reducing screen time with families. To assist services with this key practice, our Health Promotion team developed 36 simple, fun and engaging information “snippets”. Consumer tested and aligning with Munch & Move messages, ECECs and FDCPs can readily include these in communications to families. Engagement with, and effectiveness of the snippets information approach will be evaluated in 2024.

HEALTH PREVENTION

Community engagement: Immunisation education Our Immunisation team visited community venues in Auburn, Berala, Parramatta, Westmead and Wentworthville to provide presentations on vaccination in the early years as well as reading materials and one-on-one education for parents. Sessions targeted parents of 0–5-year-old children and were held in established groups, Playgroup NSW, church-based playgroups, non-government organisation-led groups, local council libraries during Library Health Month and in partnership with Department of Education programs in school settings.
