THREE SAFER BABY PROJECT

WSLHD data will report on the five elements of care and outcomes in relation to reducing the stillbirth rate by at least 20% by 2023.

Implementation of a ‘bundle’ of care, a series of interventions and resources designed to improve health care. There are five components of the Safer Baby Bundle: • Supporting women to stop smoking in pregnancy • Improving detection and management of fetal growth restriction • Raising awareness and improving care for women with decreased fetal movements • Improving awareness of maternal safe going- to-sleep position in late pregnancy • Improving decision- making about the timing of birth for women with risk factors for stillbirth. Develop tools to identify and address barriers to commencement of inpatient chemotherapy and better align practices to outpatient management. A series of reporting templates will be developed over six months during the time of deployment of a radiation therapist to this task. A series of key performance indicators will be developed.

The safer baby project will be implemented to reduce the rate of preventable stillbirths through better maternity care. The Australian Safer Baby Bundle is primarily designed to reduce stillbirth rates after 28 weeks’ gestation by at least 20% by 2023.
