FLASH: Fostering Leadership Across Systems in Health

The FLASH leadership program supports aspiring clinician leaders in attaining skills required to effectively drive improvements within the health system. High-quality, safe patient care and staff engagement link strongly to leadership.

FLASH is a 7-month evidence-based program built by clinician educators for non-clinical, medical, nursing and allied health clinicians launched in 2022 across WSLHD. FLASH is an interactive opportunity for practising clinicians in WSLHD to network and learn from experienced senior leaders in the system. Formats include: expert panels, Q and A sessions, workshops and group work-place linked activities. The program includes local, national and international expert teachers on topics ranging from indigenous health, consumer engagement, digital health/innovation, quality improvement science, leadership theory, culture change and many more. Over the past 12 months, 117 participants have taken part in FLASH including 68 doctors, 30 allied health and 19 nurses and midwives.
