Dosing Software Review-Use of iDOSE in the Opioid Treatment Program Standardised implementation of dosing software for safe medication administration via improved patient identification has been undertaken to safeguard the opioid treatment program service provision against medication errors. This has been achieved through iris scanning and machine dispensing technology alongside process adjustments to ensure staff continue to review scripts and ongoing dosing history. Streamlining the Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service Team The Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service goal is to support vulnerable families engaging in Drug Health services where child protection risks have been identified. The team includes clinicians from Drug Health Services, Social Work, Neonatal Services and Obstetrics. The Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service now provides specialist nursing support to women with drug dependence who use substances during their pregnancy and their families during and after pregnancy. It also extends to the promotion of care to children of drug dependent mothers and significant others up to two-years of age.
Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration: Implementation of Rapid Response to Mental and Physical Patient Deterioration Drug Health Services have implemented a Rapid Response to Mental and Physical Deterioration Pathway, which ensures staff are aware of the process to escalate concerns and support decision making at all key stages of a potential patient deterioration. All seven main drug health sites have standardised their emergency trolleys to align with WSLHD’s inpatient strategies and have also implemented an adapted REACH model for Drug Health consumers to escalate concerns where needed.
