RUSSELL R8 BASEMENT REFURBISHMENT Case study

Background • The Russell Precinct accommodates the administrative Headquarters for the Department of Defence. • The precinct consists of 11 buildings in total including the R8 building. • The purpose of the project is to provide DCCA a functional office space within the basement of the R8 building for the entire Canberra based DCCA workforce consisting of 26 personnel. Scope of Works • The project involved the Refurbishment of the Basement within Building R8 located in the Russell Precinct at the Department of Defence Administrative Headquarters Russell, ACT 2600. • Consisted of refurbishment of selected areas of the R8 Basement level to provide a functional office space to meet requirements of new occupants. • The space is to accommodate 16 sit to stand workstations, a resource area, waiting area, 5 offices, 2 conference rooms and a 2-person SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) built to Zone 5 requirements.
